TOP 10 GAMES FROM 2016
No. 9: Bedford 7, Exeter 0

If you like defense, the Division I state championship game was for you.

The contest remained scoreless until Bedford quarterback Connor Robert connected with receiver Noah Chaberek  for a 23-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive of the third quarter. The Bulldogs kept the Blue Hawks off the scoreboard the rest of the way to earn the first state championship in the program’s history.

Bedford limited Exeter to 152  yards of offense on 61 plays (2.4 per play). Exeter moved the ball inside the Bedford 30-yard line three times, but didn’t run a play in the red zone.

Bedford running back Nick Leahy rushed for a game-high 124 yards, and picked up 56 yards on Bedford’s nine-play, 80-yard scoring drive. Robert’s TD pass came on a third-and-nine play.

Bedford completed its season as the only unbeaten team in the state (12-0). Exeter (10-2) finished as the Division I runner-up for the second consecutive season.
