East beats West

CHaD EAST-WEST ALL-STAR GAME
East 17, West 13

The University of New Hampshire’s Wildcat Stadium was a Fast track Saturday night.

Pinkerton Academy running back Gannon Fast ran for 139 yards on 23 carries to help the East defeat the West 17-13 in the annual CHaD East-West All-Star Game.

“I just make it look fancy, the linemen do all the hard work,” said Fast, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. “They’re the ones who open the holes for me. I credit this entire game to our line on both sides of the ball. We all had a little bit to do with this win, but the majority lies with the line.”

The West led 7-3 after one quarter and 13-10 entering the fourth, but the East took the lead for good when Pinkerton’s Gennaro Marra scored on a 4-yard run with 10:59 to play. Salem’s Zach Gibbons made the point-after kick, which capped the game’s scoring.

The West moved the ball to the East 18-yard line late in the fourth quarter, but Winnacunnet’s Devin Miller forced Bedford running back Ryan Toscano to fumble and Pinkerton’s Nick Lombard scooped up the ball and returned it to the West’s 16-yard line.

The East missed a field goal, but the West failed to move the ball past its 20-yard line on its final possession.

The West opened the scoring on Toscano’s 2-yard TD run in the first quarter, and took a 13-10 lead when Zach Miles tossed a 31-yard TD pass to Ben Eichman with 57 seconds left in the third.

The East’s other points came on a 25-yard field goal by Gibbons, and a 4-yard TD pass from Londonderry quarterback Evan Cormier to Winnacunnet tight end Joe MacDougall.

The victory broke’s the West’s two-game winning streak. The West has a 5-3-0 edge in the series.

The West was 2 of 12 on third done.

“Our kids were awesome,” Londonderry coach Jimmy Lauzon said. “Up front we knew we had the advantage a little bit. Not so much that they didn’t have good players, we just felt really strong about the offensive line. And our defense played great.”
