CHaD Practice: Day 2

Notes from the second day of practice for this year’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played July 17 (1 p.m. kickoff) at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium:

East coach Kevin Hebert said he expects Alvirne’s Kyle Gora to get most of the reps at quarterback in the practices leading up to this year’s game. Kennett’s Parker Coleman was selected to play in the game, but will not participate. The East’s other QB’s are Exeter’s Jonathan Bunnell, Londonderry’s Aiden O’Loughlin and Gilford-Belmont’s Alex Cheek. Hebert said one of those three will settle in as a backup quarterback. He also said Cheek may get some reps with the running backs as well. “All the other guys will be playing other positions as well,” Hebert said. … The East selected 10 offensive linemen, but the team is down to eight after two of those selected chose not to play. “We wanted to have two full groups, so we may have to give a D-lineman some reps on offense,” Hebert said. … The West is scheduled to have a scrimmage Sunday and West coach Robin Bowkett said he’ll likely have most of his starters in place after the scrimmage. “We’ll know our starters, but in a game like this every kid will get some good playing time,” Bowkett said. … The West is expected to use Jarrett Henault (Goffstown) and Austin Jain (Souhegan) at QB. “It’ll probably be two series here, two series there, some situational stuff and then we’ll go with the hot hand late in the game,” Bowkett said.  … Both coaches said they will likely use more players on both sides of the ball than origially expected. … Hebert said he likes his team’s linebacker group and that he expects to rotate two groups on defense for much of the game. … Each team is scheduled to practice from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday. The East practice will be at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, and the West will practice at Bedford High School.
