CHaD Practice: Day 3

Notes from the third day of practice for this year’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played July 17 (1 p.m. kickoff) at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium:

CHaD GAME
PRACTICE REPORT

The West held a controlled scrimage Sunday and spent 45 minutes focused on offense and 45 minutes focused on defense. West coach Robin Bowkett called the scrimmage “very productive” and said the team came away unscathed. “We learned we’re going to be fine with Peter Alisandro from Trinity at any of our defensive back positions,” Bowkett said. “He’s been pretty sharp. “We’re also going to be pretty solid up front on defense with Jason Compoh (Nashua South) and Max Ackerman (Nashua North). We also have Adam Slater from Hollis-Brookline. There’s eight-plus guys in the rotation there.” … East coach Kevin Hebert said his team will put extra emphasis on special teams. Jack McClean (Gilford-Belmont) and Logan Bryant (Somersworth) are in the mix to be the team’s place-kicker and punter, respectively. “We’re really trying to spend 33-and-a-third of our time on all three phases (offense, defense and special teams),” Hebert said. “We really did want to put an emphasis on special teams.” … Hebert said running back Jake Herrling (Pelham) and wide receiver Adam Stewart (St. Thomas) are among the players who have stood out through three practices. Herrling will also return kicks. … “One of the hardest things about coaching in this game is trying not to do too much during the week,” Hebert said. “It’s the old Billy Ball expression: It’s better to do a few things really well.”
