CHaD Practice: Day 6

Notes from the sixth day of practice for this year’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday (1 p.m. kickoff) at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium:

CHaD GAME
PRACTICE REPORT

Quarterback Joe Mikol (Bedford), running back/defensive back Nyeoti Punni (Lebanon), receiver Peyton Strickland (Goffstown) and defensive back/receiver Jackson Stone (Lebanon) were elected as captains for the West on Wednesday. Each player on the West roster was allowed to vote for two players. … West coach Robin Bowkett (Souhegan) said wide receiver/defensive back Caden Perry (Goffstown) has been battling a hamstring issue and has been limited in practice, but will dress Saturday. … Running back Cole Shambo (Lebanon) and offensive lineman Quinn Healy (Fall Mountain) have both been even better than expected, according to Bowkett. … Former University of New Hampshire head coach Sean McDonnell attended the East practice Wednesday. … Mikol will handle most of the kicking duties for the West. … Bowkett said his team has good depth at the inside linebacker position. “We really haven’t talked about those guys a lot, but Aidan Kelley (Central), Ryan Cote (Goffstown), Connor Rowsell (Nashua South) and either one of the Rokes twins (Keene’s Jarrod and Markus Rokes) all come downhill and run sideline to sideline. Then you throw in (Jimbo) Thibeault from Trinity and (Cole) Shambo from Lebanon — that’s been a solid group for us. We feel really good about that unit. I will say I think Caden Zalenski (Milford) is going to have a breakout game on the defensive line as well.” … The East will practice at St. Thomas Aquinas for the final time Thursday. The West’s final practice at Manchester West will also be Thursday. Both teams will have a walkthrough at Saint Anselm College followed by a barbecue (3 p.m.) Friday. … More information on this year’s game, including how to donate to the cause or purchase tickets, can be found on the CHaD East/West All-Star Game web site.
