Brosmer shares CAA award

RICHMOND, Va. – University of New Hampshire quarterback Max Brosmer (Roswell, Ga.) was named CAA Football co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Brosmer, a sophomore, completed 31-of-43 passes for a career-high 316 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a game-winning touchdown pass with 17 seconds left, as UNH rallied past the University of Rhode Island, 31-28, at Wildcat Stadium on Nov. 12. His 31 completions were also a career best.

With UNH trailing by four points, Brosmer guided the Wildcats on an 89-yard play drive in the final 2:21. He opened the drive 4-for-4 for 49 yards to advance the ball to the URI 27 and ended it by connecting with freshman wide receiver DJ Linkins (District Heights, Md.) on a 26-yard TD pass on a fourth-and-nine play.

Brosmer also engineered a hurry-up TD drive at the end of the second quarter. With 1:49 on the clock, he completed six consecutive passes to move the Wildcats from the UNH 21 to the URI 11 in exactly one minute. On third-and-goal, Brosmer found redshirt freshman wide receiver Caleb Burke (Johnstown, Pa.) over the middle for a 4-yard TD pass that lifted the Wildcats within 14-10 going into halftime.

On the opening drive of the third quarter, UNH kicked a 40-yard field goal to close within 14-13. Rhode Island answered with a touchdown, but Brosmer led a 54-yard TD drive and then ran in the two-point conversion to tie the score, 21-21, with 34 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

College of William & Mary quarterback Darius Wilson was named CAA Football co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Brosmer.

New Hampshire, 7-3 overall and tied atop the CAA standings at 6-1, ends the regular season Saturday (noon) at the University of Maine.
