No. 9: Sanborn 23, John Stark 20
A Nolan Ash 29-yard field goal with a little more than four minutes to play proved to be the difference in this Division II matchup played in Kingston.
The field goal was set up by a Ben Cardoso interception that he returned 36 yards to the John Stark 17-yard line. The Generals final two possessions ended with a punt from deep in their own territory and an intercetpion.
Sanborn took a 20-14 lead on Cardoso’s 1 yard touchdown run, but John Stark tied the game on Donnie White’s 13-yard TD run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. White, a senior, rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.
White’s 2-yard TD run opened the scoring, but Austin Ingersoll returned the ensuing kickoff 51 yards and Ben Cardoso scored from 28 yards away on the next play. Sanborn led 14-6 after quarterback Brandon Sarette tossed a 3-yard pass to Ricky Caillouette and Ash made the PAT.
