TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2023
No. 2: Dover 28, Concord 27
This Division I matchup was selected as the top game of 2023 in large part because of how it ended.
Concord was in position to pull off the upset, but Dover stopped Crimson Tide quarterback Colby Nyhan short of the goal line on a two-point conversion attempt in the first overtime.
Dover, which trailed 21-7 in the third quarter, scored on its overtime possession when quarterback Ryder Aubin tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Amari Lewis. Nyhan scored from a yard away in overtime to cut the deficit to 28-27, and Concord opted to go for two and the win.
Nyhan completed 7 of 11 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball 16 times for 72 yards and two scores. Junior running back Sawyer McCready accounted for Concord’s other touchdown on a 3-yard run.
The victory improved Dover’s record to 5-2. Concord dropped to 1-6.
