Shrine Practice: Day 3

New Hampshire and Vermont have three more days to prepare for Saturday’s 71st Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, which will be played at Vermont State-Castleton (11:30 a.m.). …  New Hampshire coach Josh White said Pinkerton’s Tim Hersom looks like he will start at quarterback. “It’s getting to a point where Tim is kind of separating himself,” White said. “He’s learned the offense quickly and has taken on a leadership role. You’ll still see the other quarterbacks get in.” …  Burr and Burton’s Jack McCoy is expected to see the majority of time at QB for Vermont. McCoy was Vermont’s Gatorade Player of the Year last season. … The Granite State lost another player on its roster Tuesday when Plymouth’s Gabe Kean left camp with a hamstring injury. Kean was scheduled to play running back/slot receiver/defensive back. … White said linebacker TJ Marden (Mascoma), defensive lineman Logan Ash (Newport), linebacker Hutch Haskins (Gilford/Belmont) and defensive back Ben Cardoso (Sanborn) are among those who have stood out on defense. Laconia’s Keaton Beck, who is 6-foot-7, will play outside linebacker. “Size-wise, we’re big,” White said. “We still need things to click a little quicker (on offense), but we have a good defensive squad.”
