FOOTNOTES
University of New Hampshire running back Dylan Laube led FCS in all-purpose yards last season (2,095), UNH’s Max Brosmer finished second among FCS quarterbacks in passing yards (3,449) in 2023 and the Wildcats ended the season ranked fifth in scoring offense (37.5 points per game).
Not only will UNH not have Laube (drafted by Las Vegas) and Brosmer (transferred to the University Minnesota) this season, they will also be without former offensive coordinator Brian Scott, who is entering his first season as the associate head coach/offensive coordinator at Tennessee Tech.
Scott spent four years at UNH, two as the co-offensive coordinator and two as the lone offensive coordinator. Drew Belcher and Ed Borden will serve as co-offensive coordinators this season.
Who will call the offensive plays for the Wildcats this season? Here’s the answer UNH head coach Rick Santos gave when asked that question at media day:
“Coach Belcher is going to call the plays on game day. It’s a true collaboration between him, Coach Borden and myself. That was the great thing about the offense the last couple years – how great of a play-caller Coach Scott was. We had a think-tank mentality going into the week. We all had our little individual part of the game plan that we would be experts in. We would propose it to the rest of the staff and then throw some stuff out there we all liked and at the end of the day whatever we felt like together was going to give us the best opportunity to be successful that’s what we went with. Coach Belcher will call it. I’ll give him a lot of credit. We’ve done a lot more unit meetings than we have in the past. He’s got a presence about him. He’s played at a high level. He’s played in this conference, so I think the guys from that standpoint really respect him. He’s proven he can develop the quarterback position in what he did with Max. He’s shown he has what it takes to be successful and the guys are really buying into it.”
