Dartmouth wins with extra effort

Grayson Saunier scored five touchdowns Saturday to help Dartmouth overcome a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit en route to a 44-43 victory over Yale in New Haven, Conn.

Dartmouth (4-0) prevailed when it stopped Yale’s two-point conversion try in overtime.


GAME STATISTICS


Dartmouth’s Q Jones scored in overtime to help the Big Green take a 44-37 lead. Yale responded with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Grant Jordan to Chase Nenad but the Bulldogs went for two and Jordan’s pass to David Pantelis was incomplete.

Jordan’s 10-yard touchdown pas to Pantelis gave Yale a 37-16 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Dartmouth’s rally began when Saunier threw 7-yard touchdown passes to Paxton Scott and Daniel Haughton on consecutive possessions to make it 37-30 with 6:30 minutes to play.

Yale drove to the Dartmouth 29, but Nick Conforti missed a 47-yard field goal.

Saunier led Dartmouth downfield again and his 32-yard touchdown run helped tie the game, 37-37, with 1:22 remaining.

Yale reached Dartmouth’s 28, but Conforti missed a 46-yard field goal attempt with three seconds left in regulation.

Saunier was 20-of-34 passing for 276 yards and three touchdowns. He and Jones each ran for 84 yards to lead Dartmouth, and Scott had 100 yards receiving on six catches.

Jordan completed 32-of-47 passes for 412 yards with five touchdowns for Yale. Three of the touchdowns went to Pantelis who finished with 117 yards on eight receptions.

Franklin Pierce 41, AIC 14

Quarterback Adrian Parker completed 25 of 40 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns as the Ravens (2-3, 2-1 NE10) beat AIC in Springfield, Mass.


GAME STATISTICS


Austyn Howe had six receptions for 113 yards and two touchowns. Merrimack High School graduate Reimello Hyde rushed for 47 yards and a TD on nine carries.

Franklin Pierce led 14-0 after one quarter, 27-7 at halftime and 41-14 after three quarters. AIC (1-5, 0-3) was 1 of 13 on third down.

Pace 26, Saint Anselm 20 (2 OT)

Quarterback Drew Forkner passed for 168 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 77 yards on 15 carries, but the Hawks (3-3, 3-1 NE10) had their three-game winning streak come to and end with this double-overtime loss.


GAME STATISTICS


After each team scored three points in the first overtime, Pace (2-4, 2-2) got a 1-yard TD run from Nasir Robinston to cap the second OT.

Saint Anselm’s Patrick Yesinko caught eight passes for 87 yards.
