Bad news hit the New Hampshire team again Wednesday, when two more players were lost to injury. Hillsboro-Deering running back Robert King was lost to a hip flexor, and ILMA center Grayson Boxer broke at least one finger. Boxer was expected to share time at center. The New Hampshire roster is down to 31 players. “We still have enough so nobody will have to go both ways,” New Hampshrie coach Tim Snow said. … The 2026 Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will be held Saturday (11:30 am.) at Vermont State-Castleton. New Hampshire leads the series against Vermont 50-19-2. … Vermont is expected to play two quarterbacks Saturday. Colton Lefebvre (Colchester) will play at Plymouth State University, and Sam Bent (Essex) will play baseball at St. Bonaventure. … Nick Ball (Monadnock) and Jacob Tryon (Laconia) are expected to be New Hampshire’s primary running backs in a run-based offense. “Our line is going to have to come up big,” Snow said. “We have guys who can hit the hole, pick up yards on their own and allow us to control the ball.” … George Sarkis (Franklin) and Adrian Sanchez (Newport) were named honorary captains because they are the top fundraisers among New Hampshire players. Snow said the other team captains will likely be selected Thursday, when New Hampshire is scheduled to practice three times. “They’ve grasped the offense quicker than I thought they would,” Snow said. “It’s just a matter of fine-tuning our play calls on offense and defense.
