GAME STATISTICS
PSU scored touchdowns on each of its three possessions to burst out to a 21-0 lead, then extended the margin to 35-0 at the half after sophomore Gustavo Regalado (Lawrence, Mass.) picked off a Lancers’ pass and returned it 63 yards to the house just before the second quarter expired.

The Basics:
- Plymouth State 56, Worcester State 21
- Plymouth State (6-1, 4-1 MASCAC)
- Worcester State (1-6, 1-4 MASCAC)
How it Happened:
- Plymouth State opened with good field position after junior Willie Lombard (Bridgewater, Mass.) returned the opening kickoff to the PSU 40-yard line. The Panthers marched down the field as sophomore Braden Lynn (Littleton, Mass.) connected with senior Chris Coburn (Hooksett, N.H.) for 18 yards and four plays later Lombard scampered 13 yards into the end zone for an early 7-0 lead.
- PSU forced a three-and-out, then Lynn hit graduate student Jake Donahue (Hudson, N.H.) for an 18-yard gain to jumpstart the next drive. Plymouth State picked up chunks of yardage on the seven-play, 57-yard drive before Lombard’s four-yard TD run doubled the margin with 6:05 left in the first.
- Lombard’s 17-yard punt return put the Panthers at the Worcester State 48-yard line to start its next drive. Lynn connected with Lombard for 11 yards, then the versatile back ripped off 17 yards on the ground to get into the red zone. Three plays later, Sanchez’s seven-yard run made it 21-0 in the opening seconds of the second.
- Senior Quinn Girard (Glens Falls, N.Y.) picked off a Lancers’ pass to squash a Worcester State drive and Lynn hit Donahue for a 17-yard connection, but the Panthers’ drive stalled at midfield and PSU was forced to punt.
- The offense went right back to work after a three-and-out, moving the ball down field. PSU was gifted a first down after the Lancers jumped offsides on fourth-and-two, and Sanchez followed with runs of 11, 12 and four yards to get into the end zone again as the lead went to 28-0 with just under three minutes left in the half.
- With time running out in the second quarter, Regalado snagged a Lancers’ pass attempt and ran it back 63 yards for the pick-six as the margin expanded to 35-0 at the break.
- With the large lead, PSU went to the ground game in the second half. Sanchez accounted for 47 yards on the ground during an eight-play, 68-yard drive that covered 5:39 to make it 42-0.
- Worcester State turned the ball over on downs and Glanville made it 49-0 on the very next play after he ripped through the defense for a 33-yard TD run.
- The hosts closed the frame with their first points of the afternoon to make it 49-7 after three.
- Worcester State converted a PSU turnover into seven points on the next possession and after a Plymouth State three-and-out, the Lancers were on the move again to trim the deficit to 49-21 with four minutes to play.
- Freshman Shawn Harrington (South Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Gregory Walker (Boxford, Mass.) took to the ground on PSU’s next drive and freshman Connor Capone (Maynard, Mass.) had his first career completion, a 17-yard hook-up with junior Jon Proia (Chelmsford, Mass.) to set up Walker’s two-yard TD run to account for the final score late in the fourth.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State ran for 278 yards, while limiting the Lancers to 79 yards on the ground.
- PSU went six-for-six in the redzone and is now 28-for-30 with 25 touchdowns on the season.
- Sanchez finished with 104 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns, while Lombards added 45 yards and two scores on just five carries.
- Glanville added five rushes for 45 yards and a touchdown, with Walker also finding paydirt.
- Lynn was an efficient 12-for-14 for 100 yards, with junior Kyle Baker (Pelham, N.H.) and senior Bryan Warren (Pine Bush, N.Y.) posting three catches apiece.
- Freshman Ryan Fleming (Boxborough, Mass.) led the defense with seven tackles, including three for a loss, while Regalado added five stops (four solo) to go with his pick-six.
- Plymouth State improves to 9-3 all-time against the Lancers. The Panthers have won each of the last five meetings by an average of 26 points.
