Top 10 Games from 2020: No. 6

No. 6: Plymouth 21, Kennett 20

Plymouth had to erase a 13-point deficit in the final 11 minutes to avoid defeat in Conway.

A Kennett victory seemed likely after the Eagles stopped Plymouth on a fourth-down play from the Kennett 2-yard line with 3:44 to play, but Plymouth forced a fumble on the ensuing possession and took over on the Kennett 22 with 2:33 on the clock. One play later quarterback Cody Bannon found Trevan Sanborn for a touchdown that tied the game. The PAT gave Plymouth its only lead.

Kennett moved the ball to the Plymouth 37 on its final possession before time expired.

The Eagles scored on their first two possessions. Quarterback Parker Coleman tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Cole Salyards with 5:37 remaining in the first quarter to open the scoring. Then Coleman and Salyards teamed up for a 7-yard TD pass that helped Kennett take a 12-0 lead.

Plymouth got on the scoreboard with 6:53 remaining in the half when Bannon threw a 12-yard pass to Sanborn that resulted in the first of his two TD receptions.

Kennett regained a double-digit lead when Salyards caught his third TD pass with 12 seconds left in the half. He also caught a pass for the two-point conversion, which gave the Eagles a 20-7 halftime lead.

Plymouth had only one possession in the third quarter, but picked up some momentum when Johnston caught a 68-yard TD pass from Bannon with 10:54 to play.

Kennett turned the ball over on its next two possessions, and the second turnover led to what proved to be the game-winning TD.
